A happy celebration at Victoria Park’s Alabaster Room

Cara here today, and I’m so excited to share a peek into a recent wedding that was full of happiness, laughter and love: Makenzie and David’s celebration at the gorgeous Victoria Park! Enjoy this peak of their beautiful wedding vows.

As an experienced Wedding Celebrant in Brisbane, I adore sharing couples unique love stories, while witnessing the guests thoroughly enjoying the carefully chosen words and authentic delivery, and I really appreciated receiving this wonderful feedback from the happy newlyweds:

5 STAR REVIEW

Cara was the Celebrant for our wedding ceremony this September.

We really couldn’t be more satisfied with the entire experience. Cara feels like someone you’ve known forever, and brings a sense of calm to what could be a stressful time.

Honestly, we wouldn’t change one thing about our ceremony, it was PERFECT and set the tone for the remainder of the day.” M+D

The happy couple opted for a classic and timeless black and white wedding colour palette, with bridesmaids in long white dresses and the groom and groomsmen in black tie.

On what turned out to randomly be the windiest day of the year (well, maybe not officially but from my recollection anyway), Victoria Park’s versatility shone through.

One of the great features for weddings at Victoria Park, is that all the function spaces, come with a back-up alternative space, so instead of proceeding outside, the ceremony was set up indoors in the lovely Alabaster Room, with a stunning backdrop of Brisbane City which was perfect!

Makenzie and David’s story is one that just makes you smile. I shared a snippet of it during their ceremony, much to the guest’s enjoyment. Here’s a little taste:

Having initially met as coworkers, it was on Makenzie’s 18th birthday at ‘The Pit’ that David decided to pursue her and made his move. Two weeks later, during a romantic picnic under the Story Bridge, David asked Makenzie to be his girlfriend.

David’s first impression of Makenzie was profound: “Wow, this is someone I could spend the rest of my life with.” Makenzie’s first impression, on the other hand, was that she found David cute but struggled to understand his unusual accent!

Since then, their relationship blossomed through sharing many milestones together, from graduating university, travelling the world, buying their first home, and welcoming their beloved fur-baby, Taro, into the family.

A “Hovering” Proposal

The proposal took place during their overseas adventures in the UK. David popped the question in London’s Hyde Park, but here’s the funny part:

“It was a chilly Autumn morning, and as David went to get down on one knee, he suddenly realised the ground was covered in goose and duck droppings! So instead of kneeling, he improvised and hilariously “hovered” on one knee instead!

Of course, Makenzie couldn’t contain her excitement of his ‘hovering proposal’ and said “YES!”

Makenzie and David exchanged heartfelt, personalised surprise vows to each other, followed by exchanging rings. What an honour it was to pronounce them as married, and the guests erupted with cheers and applause!

With beaming smiles, they signed their marriage certificates, the ceremony concluding with the happiest exit back down the aisle together through a cloud of biodegradable confetti.

Once guests had congratulated the happy newlyweds, the couple joined their wedding party on a golf buggy ride around Victoria Park for their talented Photographer and Videographer to capture some beautiful moments.
