How to Be the Perfect Ring Bearer

How to Be the Perfect Ring Bearer

At Brisbane City Celebrants, we love seeing every detail come together thoughtfully so our ceremonies flow seamlessly. The ring exchange is one of those special moments. With some thought and guidance, presenting the wedding rings can be enjoyed by everyone while creating beautiful, photo friendly memories of the day.

As Celebrants with a passion for new ideas and ways to further improve the ceremony experience for couples, their guests and even the Photographer, we’ve refined a way of presenting the wedding rings that looks polished, feels natural, and ensures everyone gets to experience the moment.

best man and ring bearer wedding tips

Traditionally, the best man or ring bearer walks up, stands between the couple with their back to the guests, and quickly hands over the rings. While simple, this common approach can unintentionally block the guests’ view, interrupt the flow, and often result in missed photo opportunities.

The Picture-Perfect Ring Presentation

As part of our signature ceremony experience, we’ve developed a much more elegant and seamless way for the ring bearer to present the rings.

When it’s time for the ring bearer to present the rings, we step aside, out of the photographer’s shot with the couple being the sole focus. Then, instead of having their back to everyone, we invite the chosen best man, groomsman or ring bearer to step into the Celebrant’s original spot, between the couple, facing toward the guests.

From there, they can confidently and clearly present the rings to the couple.

It’s a small tweak to the traditional presentation of the wedding rings, but still completely transforms the moment. Guests can now see the rings being presented, the photographer can capture it beautifully, and it all feels seamless and connected, exactly how the moment should.

Quick Tips for the Best Man or Ring Bearer

Before the ceremony begins, we always like to do a quick walkthrough with the best man or ring bearer. This takes place just before guests begin to arrive at the ceremony. Having a run through at this time, keeps it fresh, ensuring they know exactly what to do and where to stand when the moment comes.

  1. Step into position when invited, facing the guests.
  2. Hold the ring box (or boxes) neatly and securely, presenting it (or them) in a way everyone can see.
  3. The couple will pick out each other’s rings (not their own).
  4. Then head back to your place, remember to take the box back with you. Don’t leave it with the couple as their hands are busy exchanging and receiving rings.

For child ring bearers, we adapt the approach slightly, making it easy and giving them clear guidance so they feel confident and excited to play their special role.

A Small Change with a Big Impact

This thoughtful approach reflects just one of the many ways we have thought through every part of the wedding ceremony, to create an exceptional experience for every couple, and to help ensure the Photographer can capture the best shots.

A little touch that ensures the ceremony not only runs smoothly but connects with guests in real time and makes for photos that will be enjoyed for years to come.

This is just one of the many ways in which we consider every detail of the ceremony with care and thought.
