Vow Renewal Ceremonies
At Brisbane City Celebrants we love assisting couples with designing their vow renewal ceremony. Wedding vow renewal ceremonies are non-legal ceremonies and include surprise vow renewals, often to celebrate wedding anniversaries, and also a popular option amongst couples who have legally married overseas and would like to celebrate with loved ones in a non-legal wedding celebration in Australia.
A vow renewal ceremony is a celebration of your relationship or a milestone anniversary and is completely personalised to reflect the two of you and your relationship, sharing your journey together to date and you may like to also share your goals and hopes for the future.
The process of designing a vow renewal ceremony usually includes meeting with one or both of you, when we run through a wealth of ideas and get an understanding of your relationship and milestones that have brought you to this point, in addition to gaining a clear understanding of the feel or vibe you have in mind for your ceremony.
Equipped with this information, we then design a custom personalised vow renewal ceremony that reflects your relationship together and celebrates this milestone. Brisbane City Celebrants fee for writing and delivering your vow renewal ceremony are located here.
Surprise Vow Renewals
After 10 years of marriage and two beautiful children, loving husband Peter wanted to do something special for his beautiful wife Fiona to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary, and prove after many side tracked by children and forgotten anniversaries, that the romance is still alive!
Being parents to two little ones had meant many previous anniversary had taken a back seat but this anniversary was one Peter was determined to make memorable, so he contacted Brisbane City Celebrants to get the plan for his surprise wedding vow renewals in to action.
Under the guise of an anniversary photo shoot in a park with a friend, Fiona and Peter arrived at a park local to their home, Colmslie Beach Reserve for some couples photos.

Then on cue, Peter led Fiona down some steps to a hidden from view area, right on the Brisbane river, where she was greeted with a sign, asking her if she would marry him again!
In complete shock, she stopped in her tracks as she read the sign, she turned and asked him if this was for real then spotted a group of her close friends and family beside their circular arbour. The guests cheered, she got goose bumps, and once the initial surprise had set in she giggled as Peter led her to her stunning ceremony setting.
As the ceremony was a well kept secret, when it came to the vows we agreed that Peter would write vows for Fiona to agree to, by responding ‘I Will’ or ‘I Do’ to the vows he wrote.
When it came to the exchanging of rings, Paraic came up with the idea of making lego rings, representing and involving their children, which their children presented to them with much excitement.
The ceremony was relaxed, and the perfect combination of fun and meaningful, with Jamie re-pronouncing the happily married couple as husband and wife again, their guests cheered, with Fiona elated and still in shock that her husband could pull off such a romantic surprise to perfection!
Congratulations to the happy couple on your 10 year wedding anniversary and surprise vow renewal ceremony.

10 Year Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewals
As Celebrants when our very own marriage recently turned 10 we couldn’t resist celebrating, by being on the other side and celebrating our relationship by renewing our vows in a happy and fun filled vow renewal ceremony.
While we refer to our ceremony as our vow renewals, for us it wasn’t so much about renewing our vows, it was more a celebration of our relationship, reflecting on our journey together over the past 10 years, from challenges to triumphs conquering life together as a team.
For our vows we agreed on 8 ‘sentence starters’ including:
I remember when we first met….
I love our similarities like….
In the future I look forward to….
Then during the ceremony we each read these in turn to each other, hearing what the other had written for the very first time.
Sharing and hearing the vows we had written for each other was such a special moment and we are so happy to now have this special memory to reflect on.

A surprise anniversary vow renewals
On reaching the 10 years of marriage milestone, Michael knew he wanted to do something extra special for his amazing wife.
He secretly got in touch with Jamie and together an amazing ceremony was planned, using the same colour scheme and reception venue from their original wedding, Michael thought of everything.
30 of their nearest and dearest were invited for the surprise renewals ceremony which would follow with a celebratory sit down meal.
With a beautiful wedding arbour and décor by Brisbane Wedding Decorators creating an elegant setting for the ceremony to take place.
In order for her to be somewhat prepared for the day, Michael decided to give his wife 1 days notice of what he had in store and she was amazed to hear what he planned.
The ceremony Michael and Jamie created together was a huge hit with his lovely wife and also with the guests who got involved and roared with laughter at some of the promises they were asked to make the couple.
For the vows, Michael pulled out the original vows they each wrote at their wedding 10 years prior, which they re-read to each other, renewing their vows and reaffirming their promises and commitment to each other.
Congratulations to the happy couple and we look forward to seeing you again on your 20 year anniversary!
